• Couples Therapy

  This relationship is not how you imagined. Somehow, through the busy schedules of life, the disconnect between you both started and expanded quicker than anticipated. The dread of going home from work is a constant feeling because it’s like walking on eggshells at home. Now, there is limited transactional emotional or physical intimacy. This relationship is a fabrication of ‘what a relationship should be’ – Right? It looks good outside to your friends and family, but not as it is on the inside. How did we get here? Life moves fast, and we struggle to keep up. When it comes to our relationships, we sometimes move these to the backburner and take them for granted. We avoid those hard-to-discuss topics or emotions because we all know when we bring up the issue, the stress doesn’t go away for a few days, making it easier to avoid the discussion. The two of you have lost a vulnerable connection because of your relationship of these life issues. Whatever the cause, we can work through it in therapy. Create a new path. You didn’t pursue a meaningful relationship to allow it to fall apart. You’ve invested your love, time, and years of your life. • Group Therapy

  Here is a personal invitation. Group therapy is a form of therapy used along with individual therapy. Individuals with similar challenges can create a safe place (online or in-person) to meet and process their life experiences with these specific issues. The group creates a safety, trust, and accountability culture through weekly meetings that provide validation and nourishment. In the group dynamic, we will share both positive and negative experiences from our lives and receive feedback and validation from others in the group. Group members gain empathy, perspective-taking, and insight from listening to other members share their powerful stories. In group therapy, you can process your ability to heal and flourish while also supporting others in the group. Group therapy allows for healing and growth through various avenues – the two primary ones being learning how to provide feedback helpfully and encouragingly and by learning to accept and integrate feedback into your life. Form bonds with others. Introvert or extrovert, it doesn’t matter. Groups utilize methods to make authentic connections with others who share similar life stories. These connections are, in it of themselves, healing. This bond can evolve into a trusting relationship with mutual empathy, helping to heal the pieces of yourself damaged by others. Then, you begin to heal – grow – and reconnect with yourself, others, and your life. Before joining, consider this. Before beginning a therapy group, you and I will discuss your problems and desire to join a group. If we both decide it’s a good fit, you will receive group information details via email. Group sizes are between 4 and 10 people. We usually sit in a circle formation; however, we’ll all be on a screen if we are in an online group. Each member will have similar challenges in their lives, including TBI, psychosis, mood disorders, or trauma. Basic rules of group emphasize respect for one another’s confidentiality, vulnerability, and willingness to share information. Active participation is a part of the group dynamic, and we expect all to participate. Each member can deny answering a question if they feel uncomfortable; however, being vulnerable in a supportive environment is a massive step in growing. A desire to connect authentically with others and their challenges and committing to a set number of group therapy sessions are requisite for success. I invite you to grow. • Teletherapy

  There’s just no time. The alarm clock goes off, and before you know it, you are downstairs throwing a makeshift breakfast together for you and the family. On your way to and from work is the only resemblance of peace in your life. The workday flies by, and now, you are home cooking and getting ready for another day. You escape for a short period, scrolling on your cell phone or watching TV. Where do you find the time? As you reflect on the day while falling asleep, you wonder how you can fit in time to address the intrusive thoughts about a past traumatic experience, the intense emotions you feel in life, or the anxiety that keeps you paralyzed from making necessary changes in your life. You know this needs to happen because changes need to occur. This self-reflection makes you realize how many things in your life hinge on your ability to maintain composure, stay present with those who care about you, and how much you give to this world. • Trauma and PTSD Recovery

  You’re not at home in your own body. Here you are – 3 months, 5 years, or 15 years since the event that haunts you while you sleep. Nightmares and shallow sleep rob you of the energy to live your life. While awake, you’re on edge and overreact to unpredictable events. At random, thoughts, feelings, and smells creep back into your awareness. Emotionally, you are numb and feel paralyzed as you watch others in your life grow in connection and achieve the lives they desire. If you feel emotions, they are only felt in intensity. Avoidance seems the only solution to the internal pain you carry. You lose connection to the world around you as your life shrinks. Difficulty trusting others leads you to have fewer social connections than before. Sooner or later, you begin to lose the ability to trust yourself and your decisions. Experiencing a broken life is a steep cost to pay. Here’s a way forward. All journeys have their obstacles. Some people desire to avoid the challenges, and others knowingly increase their awareness and address these problems in their lives. This work is not easy, and it takes effort, patience, and intention. Through our work together, you will develop the ability to address the intrusive thoughts and memories that haunt you. Then, you will learn to reprocess thoughts and events that trigger those emotions. We will work to release the emotional turmoil and the traumatic event that created chaos in your life and begin to rebuild a connection with yourself, others, and your life. As we move forward, you will begin to uncover pieces of your life and identity damaged by this event and begin to rebuild the life you desire. Overcome your traumatic experience. Traumatic experiences can persist, resulting in PTSD. When this occurs, your life feels stuck. Let’s work to get you unstuck.
