Originally from Leicester, England, Katie graduated from the Queen Elizabeth College of Nursing in Birmingham, United Kingdom with a nursing diploma. Her first job was in hematology and bone marrow transplant at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. After 4 years she moved into clinical trials as a research nurse and managed up to 30 studies including phase one trials. In 2000, Katie went back to school for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This was a specialty degree, focusing on oncology nursing. After graduation, she worked as a nurse manager on a busy oncology ward at the Leicester Royal infirmary. In 2003, she emigrated to the United States and has worked in various positions including oncology and stem cell transplant nurse, oncology clinical educator and infusion nurse. Katie became a chemotherapy trainer and ran several courses per year in conjunction with the Oncology Nursing Society. In 2015, she went back to school and earned a Master of Science in Nursing, Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Katie is passionate about helping cancer patients live their best life while undergoing treatment.“I am open and friendly; I have a lot of experience I like to share with my patients to make their life easier. I love to educate patients on their disease and treatment and can make complicated information more understandable.”When not spending time with her patients, Katie and her husband are often busy with their teenage son. To decompress, she enjoys cooking, reading and listening to music.
