This vaccine protects against chickenpox, a disease caused by the varicella zoster virus. Adults born in 1980 or later need two doses.

This vaccine protects against Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) disease. Hib can be the cause of many illnesses, such as ear infections, pneumonia and even sepsis. The Hib vaccine is routinely administered to those in the 12 to 15 month age range, but it can also be given to older individuals if risk or certain chronic conditions are present.
This vaccine protects against Hepatitis A, an infection in the liver often spread by contaminated food and caused by hepatitis A virus. Adults traveling outside the country, those with chronic liver disease, and men who have sex with men need at least two doses.

This vaccine protects against influenza, a contagious viral infection of the nose, throat, and lungs. Everyone 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.

This vaccine protects against a serious infection caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Travelers may need this vaccine before leaving the country.

This vaccine protects against the respiratory disease measles, the infectious disease mumps, and the viral disease rubella. Adults born in 1957 or later need at least one dose.
There are two types of meningococcal vaccines that protect against meningococcal disease, a leading cause of bacterial meningitis infections around the brain and spinal cord. All 11-12 year olds should get a meningococcal conjugate vaccine and a booster dose at 16 years old. People age 16-23 years also may get a serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.
These vaccines protect against pneumococcal disease, caused by bacteria leading to ear and sinus infections as well as more serious lung and blood infections. If you smoke, have heart disease, asthma, chronic lung disease, or are over 65 years old, you need at least one dose.

This vaccine protects against polio, a disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord and cause paralysis. Children are recommended to get one vaccine dose at 2 months old, 4 months old, 6 through 18 months old, and 4 through 6 years old.

Once you have received the two initial shots administered by your allergist, you’re welcome to visit any of our clinic locations for subsequent injections. Patients will need to bring written approval from their allergist, the allergy serum vial, dosing instructions, and an injection log. Note: After your allergy shot is administered at The Little Clinic we will observe you for 30 minutes.

After reviewing the prescriber’s instructions and conducting a quick consultation, the healthcare provider may administer your medication. Rocephin, or ceftriaxone, is an antibiotic medication that is used to treat several common infections. Rocephin can be administered with a prescription from another healthcare provider, or after a consultation and examination by a healthcare provider at The Little Clinic.

A tuberculosis (TB) or PPD skin test is used to detect latent, also known as a “silent,” TB infection. A PPD skin test is often used for persons in high exposure occupations, such as healthcare, to catch any infections before they become severe or communicable to others. The medication is administered into the skin typically on the lower forearm and reviewed by a healthcare provider 48-72 hours after administration to assess for any localized reaction.

When you come in for a biometric screening, your provider will measure your height, weight and blood pressure. They will also test your blood glucose, and lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL) using a finger prick to obtain a blood sample. Before leaving you will have your results along with risk reduction counseling to help you achieve your optimum health.

Blood glucose measurement detects the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. High or low blood sugars could indicate a metabolic condition, such as diabetes.
Blood pressure reading is obtained and interpreted by a provider. Blood pressure monitoring can detect cardiac conditions, such as high blood pressure.
Cholesterol screening measures the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels in the blood. Cholesterol screenings can detect conditions such as high cholesterol or high triglycerides.

We offer free hearing tests performed by a state licensed and Lucid® Certified Hearing Specialist to patients 18 years and older at select Clinic locations. Patients will receive a copy of their audiogram and will be counseled on the appropriate course of action. Should the results of the test indicate a need for hearing assistance, each location conveniently inventories a variety of Aspire Hearing Aid options to consider and purchase right in the Clinic.
